Introduction

Since the launch of the road car in October 2004, the Sports Technologies version of the Ford Fiesta range has been able to give discerning users a chance to mix the class leading dynamics of the hugely successful Fiesta range with a series of performance and styling images to create a car that is designed to flatter the novice and reward the professional.

Taking this extremely capable model as a base, M-Sport has developed the ST road car a step further to create a competition version to cope with the rigours thrown at it by international rallying.

Malcolm Wilson, Managing Director, M-Sport, “Our brief to the engineers was simple.  We wanted to get back to the days when an enthusiastic amateur competitor could take the standard car from the local Ford dealer and, using the parts kit supplied and with the help of their friends, build a competition car that was fun to drive, reliable and economical to compete in.  Fundamentally, we wanted a car that we, as enthusiasts, would want to drive.

The M-Sport team took the standard car back to a bare shell and, using the technology employed in the development of the Ford Focus WRC, redeveloped the standard car to incorporate both the safety features and the performance improvements required to withstand the pounding that will be encountered by competing with this car on rally stages all over the world.  M-Sport has now sold in excess of 250 conversion kits to 27 countries around the world.

Fiesta SportingTrophy (FST)

The one-make formula was launched in 2006 and is currently running in over ten countries, as well as the Fiesta SportingTrophy International, which follows the World Rally Championship calendar.  Links to current FST championships can be found above.

Why should I compete in FSTi?

  • The 2008 champion will win an exclusive test in a factory supported Ford Focus WRC 08 at M-Sport’s own test facility with the tuition from an M-Sport contracted driver.
  • M-Sport and ISC provide an inclusive package, meaning that you have less to worry about before and during the event.
  • Six rounds of the 2008 WRC will feature with all scores to count, covering terrains from the high-speed rollercoaster-like forest stages in Finland to challenging asphalt of the Spanish mountains.
  • There is no minimum number of events that a competitor must contest. You can register for the full season in one go or enter on an event-by-event basis.
  • A professional FSTi Co-ordinator will ensure a well-organised championship with excellent competitor support.
  • Full FIA WRC events including the option to ‘SupeRally’.
  • Each competitor will carry a tracker enabling split stage times to be recorded – a useful tool for recording speeds and stage positions prior to any mishaps or celebrations.
  • Points awarded according to FIA standards (10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1)
  • Two competitors will be invited to the FST International Shootout at M-Sport with the chance to win a contract to work with the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team in 2009

Benefits of the service package

  • Payment of all entry fees
  • These are included within the cost of the package, along with a single entry form completed at the start of the year or before each event and submitted on the competitor’s behalf for a guaranteed entry.
  • Split times on all stages and tracking service for FSTi registered competitors
  • Set-up of a dedicated service area for FSTi competitors with utilities including electricity and water
  • A superbly positioned, well thought out service park layout with identical service tents allow FSTi to showcase services to spectators and sponsors alike. Utilities such as electricity, water and toilets are included in the package to ensure that competitors are well looked after. Independent branding areas for your personal sponsors are available and competitors are encouraged to give some individuality to their team, although competitor names and FSTi branding is provided to the outside of the tents to demonstrate what is on show.
  • Tented working area, approx 35 square metres
  • Catering for 7 people per entry in the FSTi hospitality area
  • Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the day are available in a dedicated heated or air-conditioned unit, handily located adjacent to the Fiesta service area. The hospitality is available on all three days of the WRC events. Media guests are also welcome to join us. The marquee also supports the results service, with computer and printer facilities for competitor and team use.
  • 7 Event passes
  • Physio and medical support from a first aid unit in the service park
  • Security service, Thursday to Sunday
  • A dedicated media service including copyright free photography
  • Probably one of the most undervalued areas in terms of cost, but copyright-free photography is provided as part of the FSTi media package. Pictures are uploaded to the website for your media partners on a daily basis. A dedicated professional media representative is on hand at each event to perform interviews, quotes and prepare press releases for the world’s media, as well as support the competitor’s own media representatives. Press opportunities can be created to further highlight your progress in FSTi.  On-board cameras are available for selected competitors on each event.

  • Pre- and on-event parts supply
