Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to register?

The formal Registration is necessary to be eligible to score points on the FIA World Rally Championship events, and to gain benefit from the media package, excellent service package in the Fiesta Village and services of your own series co-ordinator.

How do I register?

If you want to participate in the Fiesta SportingTrophy International, you need to download the Registration Form from this site, and fax to the Co-ordinator on +44 (0)1900 823 823. The Co-ordinator will then raise an invoice for the M-Sport Registration Fee and an invoice for the ISC service package according to your instructions in the Registration Form. You need to ensure you are eligible, so also download the championship regulations.

How much do I have to pay?

The Registration Fee is £250 +VAT per event or £1,500 +VAT for the season. The ISC service package costs £3,500 per event or £21,000 for the season. This may be paid on an event-by-event basis or in two instalments. Competitors who register for the full season will receive an E85 upgrade kit free of charge.

Do I need to buy an FSTi racesuit?

All drivers and co-drivers will need to wear FSTi racesuits (to which they may affix personal sponsor logos), although exceptions may be granted for co-drivers who are competing on a one-off event, with prior permission sought from the FSTi Co-ordinator. Exceptions may also be made for competitors wearing their national FST racesuit, again with prior permission from the FSTi Co-ordinator.

Who do I contact for more information?

For all queries regarding the Fiesta SportingTrophy International, please contact the FSTi Co-ordinator, Kate Rhodes, on krhodes@m-sport.co.uk or +44 (0)1900 828 888.

How much is a car and conversion kit?

The donor car can be purchased new from M-Sport, from £10,950 inc VAT. You may, of course, source your own donor car.

The conversion kit costs £9,600. You must fit the conversion kit in its entirety to your donor car. In general, to prepare the car ready to rally, strip out the original car, and fit the new rally parts, will cost in the region of £5,250.

Other parts are available in the Options Kit, which you may choose to add to the basic Conversion Kit. All parts are listed on the website.

Do I need to pay my entry fee to the rally organisers?

No. The entry fee for each rally is included within the ISC service package of £3,500 per event meaning that you do not have to contact the organiser to register your entry, as the FSTi Co-ordinator will do that on your behalf.

I don't have my own car - what should I do?

The FSTi Co-ordinator can recommend a number of preparation companies to provide an 'arrive and drive' package for competitors who do not have their own car. The Co-ordinator will only recommend companies who will provide a professional service. These companies can provide car hire only or a full package including mechanics and a team co-ordinator, depending on the requirements of the competitor.

What is the media package?

Competitors will receive a dedicated media service with pre- and post-event press releases in which they and their sponsors can be mentioned. High-resolution copyright free photographs are also uploaded to this website during the rallies. Photographs on CD are distributed to competitors by post following each rally. It may also be possible to add individual driver news to www.m-sport.co.uk, so please keep krhodes@m-sport.co.uk on your press circulation lists!

How do I contact the Co-ordinator from a national FST championship?

You can contact the FSTi Co-ordinator, who can put you in contact with the relevant national FST Co-ordinator and send you a calendar of all national FST events in various countries including Belgium, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Russia, Turkey and the UK.

I am too young to compete in FSTi - can I compete anywhere else?

New Zealand and Latvia allow drivers to rally from the age of 15 years. The FSTi Co-ordinator can put you in touch with the right person in those countries.

What do I get for £3,500 on each event?

:: Payment of all entry fees
:: Split times on all stages and tracking service for FSTi registered competitors
:: Set-up of a dedicated service area for FSTi competitors with utilities including electricity and water
:: Tented working area, approx 35 square metres
:: Catering for 7 people per entry in the FSTi hospitality area
:: 7 Event passes
:: Physio and medical support from a first aid unit in the service park
:: Security service, Thursday to Sunday
:: A dedicated media service including copyright free photography
:: Services and support of the FSTi Co-ordinator
:: The technical assistance from an M-Sport technician
:: Pre- and on-event parts supply

How much should I budget for events?

This varies considerably, but we estimate that each event costs around £10,000 for competitors who have their own car and team and £15,000 for competitors with an 'arrive and drive' package. These calculations include entry fees, registration fees, the ISC service package, tyres, fuel, accommodation, travel, labour, etc. Costs can therefore be saved for teams who run two or more cars.

What type of fuel is used in FSTi?

Following the WRC Commission meeting of 21 February 2008, it was decided that, in view of the current FIA contractual obligations that exist and the development of biofuels for 2009, E85 will not be permitted on WRC events this year. FSTi will therefore continue to use pump fuel as specified by the event organisers.

How big can my service vehicle be?

As part of your package, tents measuring 6x6m will be set up for your designated service area. A further 6x4m space will be allocated behind the tent for one service vehicle. Competitors wishing to bring a service vehicle larger than 6x4m may do so by permission only. Please contact Kate Rhodes to request additional space. Unless you have received direct permission, please do not assume that oversized vehicles will be accommodated, as space is very limited in some Service Parks.

All vehicles that cannot be accommodated within the designated team area must be parked in the Auxiliary Park.

How much do racesuits cost?

An approved Ford racesuit from Sparco will be available for FSTi for the 2008 season. All drivers and co-drivers who have registered for FSTi are obliged to wear the FSTi racesuit provided at a cost of £425 +VAT from the FSTi Co-ordinator. Co-drivers entering a one-off event may wear their own racesuits, providing that there is no conflicting advertising.
